Possibly the most famous city on Earth, New York lives up to and beyond its billing in every sense. Brash, glitzy, huge, exciting, vibrant, you name it the city does it. From shopping to eating out, Broadway shows to clubbing, breathtaking architecture to big ticket sporting events, whatever you want from a city you can probably find it here.
Getting to New York
Three days in New York
Then if all that walking around hasn't tired you out have a stroll around Central Park or across the Brooklyn Bridge. As for the nightlife, the hottest restaurants and bars are constantly changing so chat to the locals or pick up an entertainment guide to find the best spots.
New York is one of the world?s greatest cities and it's just close enough to the UK for a short break. So naturally there are a good range of flight providers from high end scheduled flights to budget carriers and you'll often find a sale rate. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Continental and American Airlines all fly direct from London and if you're in Manchester, Belfast or Glasgow will also be able to travel direct. Once there, get around by foot, subway and of course yellow cabs. The best deals are from October to March.
You'll never have enough time to see everything New York has to offer but even if you only have three days you'll be able to take a big bite of the Big Apple. For sightseeing the must sees are the Empire State Building, a ferry ride to (or past) the Statue of Liberty on Staten Island, Times Square, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Centre, the hip shopping areas of Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, and Greenwich Village. There are also some unmissable galleries and museums the best are the National History Museum and MoMA.
