Gogartys
posted by Melmel on 27 June 2007 at 12:34 Its a fantastic lively pub in the heart of the temple bar area in Dublin, everyone spends the day and night singing their hearts out to very cheesy music! |
Dublin is one of the most popular party cities in Europe, with the 'Craic' (the Irish concept of having a great laugh) and the black stuff very much to the fore. There's also plenty to see and do beyond the inside of Dublin's hospitable pubs so grab your guide book and get searching for those cheap flights to Dublin. How to get there When to go What to do Whatever you plan to do when you get there let dealchecker help you find a great deal on your Dublin flights. When you've booked up why not use our hotel search to find a cheap hotel in Dublin or our car hire search for cheap car hire in Dublin?
Dublin is one of the best connected cities in Europe given how much it lies on the periphery of the continent. This is due in no small part to the fact that Ryanair operate a large proportion of their huge flight programme out of this city. The pioneer of the low cost flight to Dublin is often maligned for its poor customer service and dodgy pricing policy (in which it charges extra for virtually everything you can imagine) but there's no doubt that it is the king of cheap flights. Dublin is linked by Ryanair to countless UK airports (London Stansted, London Luton, Bournemouth, Bristol, Birmingham, Blackpool, Liverpool, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick, Edinburgh, Doncaster Sheffield, Durham Tees Valley, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle). At many times of the month in one of Ryanair's promotions you can get to Dublin for as little as £20 return including all taxes. There are of course other airlines that can offer you a cheap flight to Dublin, British Airways and Aer Lingus to name just two others.
It's most unlikely that you'll be too fussed about the weather when you're booking your flights to Dublin. There's a great reason why the Dublin pub scene is so vibrant and popular, for much of the year there's not much attraction in spending too much of your time outside in the Irish capital. Dublin has a high level of rainfall throughout the year and temperatures can get very chilly outside of the summer months of June, July and August. Of course a great summer day if Dublin is a beautiful thing but don't bank on seeing too many of them. Because of this there's not much of a seasonal pattern to when you can find a cheap flight to Dublin. If you are planning a short break then you have to be careful when you travel if you want to find really cheap flights. Dublin, like other city break destinations, is most expensive to travel to on a Friday and away from on a Sunday so beware peak time prices.
The south side of the River Liffey is the home to Temple Bar, one of the most famous entertainment areas in Europe. The pubs and bars here offer a cosy and now smoke free environment that any visitor to Dublin ought to experience. There's also plenty of good shopping on the south side with the area around Grafton Street offering plenty of major names and boutiques. To the north of the river you'll find the Guiness brewery which is well worth a visit and a number of literary points of interest. If you're a sports fan a visit to Croke Park to see a game of hurling or Gaelic football would also add an interesting dimension to your trip.
